Kragh vraagt Birgitte om naar Groenland te gaan om het oliecontract tussen Denemarken, Groenland en China te ondertekenen. Terwijl Amerikaanse straaljagers haar toespraak verstoren, begint Birgitte te twijfelen na het ondertekenen van de overeenkomst en een meningsverschil met haar Groenlandse tegenhanger. Ze gaat op televisie met Magnus, waar ze hem uiteindelijk uitscheldt omdat hij zijn wetenschappelijke opleiding heeft laten vallen. Op het buitengewone partijcongres steunt Bent Sejrø verrassend Berthelsen als leider, starend dat Birgitte haar humaniserende manieren is kwijtgeraakt. In haar eigen toespraak erkent Birgitte, nadat ze er een aantal wijzigingen in heeft aangebracht, de kritiek van Sejrø en kondigt ze schokkend aan dat ze zal aftreden als leider en steunt ze Berthelsen.
